Coursework for EE3-24 Embedded Systems,
Imperial College,
London, United Kingdom
Our group created a gesture-based system for remote audio control, inspired by the Internet of Things. We were obliged to use a specific development board (the Adafruit Feather Huzzah with ESP8266) and a magnetometer, but were otherwise free to develop our concept.
The gestures of a magnetized puck are translated into an action (Play, Pause, Next, Previous) and sent over WiFi to a Raspberry Pi-controlled speaker system. In addition, a passive infrared sensor is used to calculate the user’s shower lengths for feedback purposes. I designed the prototype's enclosure and verified the functionality of the firmware onboard.
